Swiss–Latvian Smart Energy Digital Centre

The Swiss–Latvian Smart Energy Digital Centre (DC) is a virtual collaborative platform established within the LACISE project to strengthen long-term cooperation between research, industry, and innovation ecosystems in Switzerland and Latvia.

Building on the networks and expertise developed through LACISE, the DC is designed to extend collaboration beyond the project lifetime. It operates as a flexible, activity-driven platform that supports knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and the translation of research results into practical applications in the field of smart energy and digital technologies.

Mission and scope

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer between academia and industry;
  • Provide a trusted platform for dialogue and collaboration between researchers, companies, and innovation stakeholders;
  • Support the development of joint research and innovation projects;
  • Enable matchmaking and networking across Swiss and Latvian ecosystems;
  • Promote emerging technologies and innovation opportunities relevant to both countries.

Activities

  • Regular online seminars offering research insights, industry perspectives, and technology presentations are held bimonthly. In 2026, the seminars will take place in August, October and December. More information and registration here
  • Thematic workshops and expert discussions organised in Latvia and Switzerland;
  • Matchmaking sessions to support new partnerships and project ideas;
  • Industry–research interaction, allowing companies to present challenges and collaborate with researchers.

The DC programme includes thematic industry-focused events, such as Battery, Hydrogen, and Smart Grid Industry Days, fostering dialogue between research and industry.

Long-term perspective

The Swiss–Latvian Smart Energy Digital Centre is envisioned as a sustainable collaborative network, supported by continued partner engagement, joint initiatives, and industry participation. By maintaining strong personal and institutional links, the DC contributes to increased innovation capacity, improved access to funding opportunities, and stronger international collaboration between Latvia and Switzerland.
