The Latvian Hydrogen Association was founded to help develop a hydrogen economy, using only local resources and hydrogen as an energy carrier, for energy, transport and manufacturing with the lowest negative impact on nature and to support environmentally friendly energy sources for production and consumption. The mission of the association is to unite scientists and entrepreneurs to work together on renewable resource technologies and solve issues of importance to society as a whole. Its main goals are to accelerate scientific and technological progress in the field of hydrogen, promote the implementation of these technologies, as well as ensure cooperation between research and government institutions, strengthen the capacity of companies and research institutes and promote education in this sector.

Naco Technologies, as we know it today, was founded by world-leading material scientists and skilful entrepreneurs from Latvia in February 2020. Company name “Naco“ stands for “Nano Coating, “which is the key competence of the Company. This competence is based on the leading edge know-how technoldevelopmentogy developed as the result of almost 50 years of research and in the nano coating area. The first iteration of Naco was established in 2010 with the first high-speed ion-plasma magnetron sputtering (HMS) machine being built in Riga, Latvia in 2012, and Naco F5 (the low friction coating for automotive parts) developed, tested, and sold to a German automotive company in 2015. Today Naco is 100% focused on hydrogen industry, bringing it's R&D knowhow to reach global hydrogen goals.
Riga airport (RIX)
RIX is the largest airport in Latvia and the Baltic States. Together with 15 other airports and airlines, RIX is involved in the international project "BSR HyAirport," which aims to create the prerequisites for adapting airport infrastructure for hydrogen-powered aircraft flights. The project also focuses on preparing for the storage, processing, and delivery of green hydrogen as a future energy source in aviation.
